Bogut the first pick?

It is a 99.9% sure thing that the first name being called in the coming June 28 NBA Draft is Andrew Bogut, a 7 footer white Center from Utah. It seems that the Bucks, who own the first overall pick and desperately need help in the middle, will gamble on the Aussie big fella after all. The coming draft is consider a weak one, and Marvin Williams, a freshman from North Carolina, is widely regarded as the only potent threat to Bogut. However, with a relatively poor workout by Williams, words are that the Bucks have already decided to use the pick on the 2005 Naismith and Wooden awards winner born in Melbourne, Australia.

Here is an interview report disclosed in hoopshype.com:

Speaking of Big Aussie Center, anyone still remember Longley? Yes, Luc Longley, the starting Center for the invinciBULLS in mid 90s'. Hope that Bugut is far better than Longley anywhere... but I remember that Longley was picked early in 1991 draft as well (No. 7 overall, by Minnesota).

Heart of a champion

Believe it or not, the Pistons beat the Spurs in game 6! Oh yes! Larry Brown's bad boys spanked Popovich hard in Alamodome, a heroic 95-86 feat that send the series to the final Derby which will take place on 23th of June EDT. I was at first unaware of the game, thought that it was supposed to play on tomorrow (22th June EDT), but surprisingly perceived the news on Yahoo! Sports when I finally have time to dawdle a bit after a few interview sessions with candidates who apply for job vacancies in my department. I have not watched the game yet, but will definitely do so when the ESPN rebroadcast the game tomorrow (they would, wouldn't they?).

The reason behind my amazement of the result is, with the better team roster and home court advantage, and most importantly, the confidence of being able to smash the Pistons at home as they have done in game 1 and 2, I was firmly convinced that the Spurs had killed the Pistons already in Detroit when they won game 5 and come back to San Antonio with a 3-2 lead. Popovich himself was so sanguine that he decided to give a one-day break to the Spurs for relaxation before game 6. Well, it turns out that, we should never underestimate the heart of a champion. Especially the warriors as tough as the bad boys are. Don't get me wrong, I still believe the Spurs WILL win the rings, but this time, instead of 60-40, I would say that it is more like 52-48 now. Watch out for the Ginobili's revenge.

Danny Ferry...the next Cavs GM?

Still remember Danny Ferry? Yeah, the Duke production of 1989, selected No. 2 in the NBA '89 Draft by L.A. Clipper, but refused to report to the Clippers and went oversea instead to play for Italian team Virtus Roma for a year. Since he did not wanted to play for the Clippers (what a shame!), they traded him to Cleveland where he played from 1990-91 to 1999-00 and later joined San Antonio Spurs as a free agent.

The 6'10" sharp shooting Forward has always been labeled as soft and sometime dirty player on the defensive end, although he was never a qualified defensive player during his NBA career. I still remember the scene where Marcus Camby (played for the Knicks at that time) who had been entangled in physical play on numerous occasions with Ferry, found himself on the recieving end of yet another Ferry elbow, and "inadvertant" poke to the eye. Camby was pissed off and threw a punch toward Ferry but was stopped by his coach -- yeah, the almighty Jeff Van Gundy. At the end, it was Van Gundy who got head butted by Camby and needed 15 stitches on the cut. That really left me with astonishment.

At all events, Ferry retired after he won the NBA title with the Spurs in 2002-03. He became the Spurs' director of basketball operations and now there are rumors that he will become the next General Manager for Cleveland Cavaliers.

Here is a report from
Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Rock version of "Canon in D"

I believe most of you heard Pachelbel's Canon in D. Some of you might heard it in the Korean romantic comedy "My Sassy Girl", in the scene when the girl (JEON Ji-Hyeon) play with her piano in a hall while Gyeon-Woo (CHA Tae-Hyeon) approaching her with a rose in hand.

My Sassy Girls

Anywhere, have you ever heard a rock version of Canon? Here is a clip play by a Taiwanese guitarist JerryC.

I love it.

The Peja rumors...

Some rumors said that Peja Stojakovic is going to leave Sacramento Kings next Season to join L.A. Lakers. I don't buy it. I don't belive Peja would like to play along with Kobe Bryant, if fact, I believe nobody does. With Vlade Divac retiring after next season if not earlier, there is no reason for Peja to join the Lakers.

Peja Stojakovic

Lakers have 4 palyers lodge at No. 3, icluding current starter Caron Butler, Devean George, Luke Walton and Jumaine Jones. Rumors is that Lamar will be shifted to SF to help handling the ball while Caron might forced to play G if he is not traded before the season start. So, what the Lakers need is somebody like a Dennis Rodman who can play tough defence and do all the dirty works or a PG who can handle the ball, play D and hit the trey. They do not need another SF currently.

Besides, the Kings are not going to let Peja walk away like this. Petrie is too smart for that.
